60 students from Year 1 to Year 6 participated in AIUIS cross-country event as part of the 5th Annual Sports and Carnival 2020 on Friday 14th February 2020.
We had the honor to have the presence of Prof Dato’ Dr. Abd Aziz Tajuddin (Vice Chancellor and President of Al-Bukhary Univeristy) and En. Mohd Basri Bin Md Jusoh (Ketua Penolong Pengarah Kanan – Jabatan pendidikan Negeri Kedah) to flag off the start of the students’ crosscountry and parents’ walkathon event.
Cross country requires speed, stamina, endurance and most of all, a positive and strong mind set. These young students were able to push themselves, achieving a sense of self-pride after completing the 2.2km cross country course. For some students, it was about going fast. For others, it was the sense of pride and the fact that they were enjoying themselves.
Despite the challenging cross country running around Sharifah Rokiah Centre of Excellence’s rich and diverse architecture which is spread over a 75-acre site where landmarks of the Islamic World were gathered in the complex to beautify its surroundings and showcase replicas to students and members of the university, as well as the community who might otherwise not have the chance to visit these magnificent buildings.
Many parents joined us on the day to witness the thrilling race and efforts by our students. There were some excellent examples of perseverance and determination. All students are to be congratulated for their efforts and participation.
A big thank you to the parents. Without the parents’ help we would have been unable to run these events, so we appreciate parents for helping out whenever they can. Thank you to the teachers for their efforts on the day also!
